sexton family academic endowment

The Sexton Family Academic Scholarship was endowed in 2000 by Curtis and Pam Sexton to honor their two daughters, Holly and Cindy. The Sextons are longtime members of the First Baptist Church of McKinney, where both girls were active in the youth group. Also, both daughters are honor graduates of McKinney High School, with Holly Sexton Oliver graduating in 1990 and Cindy Sexton Philofsky in 1993.  After graduating from MHS, both daughters attended and graduated with honors from Baylor University.

In establishing the criteria for their endowed scholarship, Curtis and Pam also chose to honor their daughters with these preferences:

  1. A student preparing to attend Baylor University

  2. A student active at First Baptist Church, McKinney

  3. An honor student from McKinney High School

Pam Sexton, who is a founding member of the McKinney Education Foundation Board of Trustees and currently serving as an Emeritus Trustee for the MEF, stated in regards to establishing their scholarship:

“I have believed in the mission of the McKinney Education Foundation since its inception in 1991, with our main goal being the establishment of permanent scholarship endowments for the graduating seniors of McKinney ISD. Nothing can open doors to a bright future like a quality education, and Curtis and I wanted to do our part to ensure that our McKinney ISD students will always be able to pursue their future academic dreams.”
