Stephanie Arno Memorial Scholarship

Stephanie was beautiful and bold! She lived as fully as possible, even when greatly weakened by the effects of leukemia and its treatment. These were the words Kathy Arno used to describe her daughter who passed away March 24, 2002.

Family friends and ex-McKinney High School teachers Barbara Hanning and Mary Dictson spoke of Stephanie as a young woman who was her own person and someone who was appreciated for her honesty and sincerity.

Stephanie loved animals. She was active in FFA at McKinney High School, from which she graduated in 1998, and was pursuing an agriculture-related degree at Texas Tech University when she was diagnosed with leukemia during her freshman year. She was also a member of the Delta Gamma fraternity on campus.

Stephanie’s family and friends joined together to establish a memorial scholarship endowment to honor this very special young woman. She was pleased to know that a scholarship to financially support students would be established in her name. Her mother, Kathy, summed up her description of her daughter with these words: She was inherently happy and loved life. That’s the way we will remember her. We’ll remember her enthusiasm, her frequently sassy wit, her loyalty to others, and the great joy she brought to our family and to many people.
