Dan Crumb Memorial Scholarship Endowment

Dan was the 1st member of MRC.  He was quick to tell you that he was not on the first leadership team, but the first person to pay their dues.  He did serve (officially and unofficially) as part of the leadership team.  Most of all he was pretty much the first person any new member met.  His positive and welcoming attitude epitomized what we like to call more than just a running club.  Dan battled cancer courageously and inspired many of us to live each day to the fullest and to share our faith.  His battle ended shortly before our first race, and it became a no brainer to re-name the scholarship in his honor.

Daniel Spencer Crum of McKinney, Texas passed away on November 28, 2017 at the age of 55.  He was born on August 19, 1962 to Robert Woodward and Julia Anne (MacComsey) Crum in Tarrytown, New York.  Dan grew up in Houston, Texas where he graduated from Stratford High School in 1980.  He went on to Sam Houston State University where he earned his Bachelor’s degree in Finance.  Dan then went on to earn his Master’s Degree in Corporate Finance from Golden Gate University.  He married Janine Sharon Redlack on January 11, 1997 in Sacramento, California. During and upon graduation from grad school, Dan worked in the restaurant industry.  He was currently employed by AT&T in management working in the supply chain.  Dan was an avid runner with the McKinney Running Club and loved all sports, especially soccer.  He was a fan of FC Dallas, San Francisco 49ers and Texas A&M. Dan was deeply religious and a man of strong faith.  He was an active member of Cottonwood Creek Church, where he served as a Deacon.
Dan is survived by his loving wife of 20 years, Janine Crum of McKinney; daughter, Alexandria Crum; son, Riley Crum; mother, Julia Crum of Los Altos, California; brother, Jim Crum and wife, Mary also of Los Altos, California; nieces, Lauren Kline and husband, Miha; Katie Crum, Allie Crum; and a host of other loving family and friends.
